The Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) has launched the world’s only single umbrella facility in road traffic management- “The College of Traffic Management”
Situated at the Aravali Hills, Surajkund Badhkal Road, Faridabad in the National Capital Region of Delhi, The College of Traffic Management has five proposed Schools, namely:
1. The Center for Analysis & Research in Road Safety
2. School of Driver Training
3. School of Traffic Enforcement
4. School of Road Safety Education & Media Development
5. School of Public Health (for Road Safety)
The vision behind creation of this umbrella facility was to support government and non government organisations in India as well as other developing nations towards building their capacity in the areas of traffic engineering, traffic enforcement , driver training, development of related standards and traffic legislation, accident investigation, road safety education, public health for road safety and post crash management.
The College initiated its first course on Traffic Management for The Army personnel from Delhi Cantonment from 12th to 16th July 2010. The first International Course on Traffic Engineering in association with The University of Birmingham and Polytechnic University of New York was held from 26th -30th July 2010. This course was attended by senior police officers and engineers from PWD, NHAI, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, Reliance Industries Ltd., DuPont Ltd. amongst others.
Other courses announced by the College are on the subjects of: Traffic Enforcement, Road Safety Audit, Accident Investigation and Traffic Management which are to be held between September to December 2010. More information on the course can be received from secy@irte.com
The College is the pioneering initiative of Dr. Rohit Baluja, Founder President of the IRTE, who is also the member of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration, Commission for Global Road Safety, Working Party 1 of the UNECE, the Committee of Road Safety and Traffic Management the Govt. of India, amongst others
